That the cheapest way to eat is to buy food
at the supermarket and cook it yourself will come as no surprise.
This is one of the advantages of camping or staying in a condo
as compared to a hotel. There are three supermarkets in the Valley.
Safeway and City Market are in West Vail on the North Frontage
Road. City Market is also ;in Avon, and The Village Market is
on highway 6 in Edwards.
Eating lunch on the mountain is tempting but expensive. To save
money either brown-bag-it or, ski off the mountain, and eat at
one of the many restaurants at the base of the mountain. Many
of the restaurants offer lunch specials at reasonable prices.
Subway is only a short walk from the base of the gondola in Lionshead.
There are many gourmet restaurants in the Vail Valley. They are
usually quite expensive. If you think you would like to dine at
one of these restaurants pick up a copy of our local rag, THE VAIL DAILY,
and scan the adds. Many of the restaurants run specials especially
in the summer. Next call your credit-card company and expand your
credit limit.
There are also many fine and economical places to eat and drink
in the Vail Valley. We have many of the same fast food restaurants
that you are used to in your area such as, Denny's (Avon), Pizza
Hut (Avon and Eagle), Burger King (Avon), Taco Bell (West Vail),
Subway (West Vail, Lion's Head,and Avon), Domino's (Vail and Avon),
and Mac Donald's (West Vail). The fast-food restaurants in this
area are different in one way- they have higher prices.
Pizza, spaghetti, hot and cold sandwiches, fast, cheap, good
vibes and tunes, make this restaurant worth skiing off the mountain
for, or stop on your way in, in the morning.
Sports Bar and restaurant serving a great varied menu with
a special menu for the kids and pizza too. Paddys is open for
lunch and dinner and their wonderful Saturday and Sunday Brunches.
If you want to catch that special game it will probably be on
one of Paddy's 22 TV's with 3 Satellite feeds. Paddys has has
a huge game room where you can turn your kids loose while you
are enjoying your meal. Paddy O'Day's is a great place for everyone.

Edwards is located at exit 163, I-70, or from Beaver Creek, you can follow Hwy 6/24 west for 4 miles. The Gashouse, Fiestas and Marko's are all easy to find, located at the intersection of Hwy 6/24 and the connecter road to the Interstate. Look for the only set of traffic lights in town. Fiestas and Marko's are accessed from the connecter road and the Gashouse entrance is just west of the traffic lights on Hwy 6/24.

The Gashouse is located 4 miles west of Beaver Creek at the lights in Edwards on Highway 6.

Minturn is the old historic railroad and mining
town of the Vail Valley and it is ideally located between Vail
and Beaver Creek, only fifteen minutes from either resort. It
is also home to some great restaurants. Everything in town is
walking distance, so if you're staying in Minturn you can park
your car and walk to to dinner.
The Turntable Restaurant is located in the
rail yard in Minturn. You will not find a cheaper meal at a sit-down
restaurant in the Vail Valley. The Turntable Restaurant serves
American favorites and specials as well as Mexican food.
